Sergeant had it all; banging tunes, sell out shows, a major record label deal and the rockstar lifestyle. You might say that the four-piece from Glenrothes had the world at their feet. NME hailed them as ‘the most exciting band to come out of Scotland’ and Xfm’s Jim Gellatly marked them as his favourite new band in 2007. The band went on to share stages with Oasis, The Fratellis and The View to name a few. Sold out Scottish tours and a massive sold out gig at Glenrothes’ Rothes Halls were also highlights in the bands career.
Formed in Edinburgh in early 2011, Dirty Harry was borne out of singing doctor, Sarah Kennedy’s desire to create a act which could play homage to everyone’s favourite rock goddess, Debbie Harry and to the band who practically invented Power Pop, Blondie.
Formed in the summer of 2015 the band cut their teeth busking around Europe, honing their craft on the streets before returning to Scotland to record their debut single “Breaking or Broken” with Veteran Scottish producer Bruce Rintoul (Fatherson, Twin Atlantic). Released in April 2016, the single was met with wide acclaim including features in national radio & press, including being awarded Radio X “Track Of The Week” and being featured in Jim Gellatlys column in The Scottish Sun.
Dancing On Tables
Dancing on Tables are a five-piece pop rock band from Dunfermline, a small town right outside of Edinburgh, Scotland. Formed in their last year of school, school mates; Robbie (22), Callum(19), Hamish (21), Gregor (21) and Michael (21) bring an eclectic range of influences to create an infectious pop rock sound. The boys have spent their last teenage years earning plaudits for their ‘dreamy melodies wrapped up in luring harmonies.’
Local rock band from Fife, formed by Steven Rennie and Matt Buchan. Matt, Steven and Owen started the band whilst working at Amazon in early 2017. Later joined by Andrew Sutherland in June then David Buron taking over on drums in November. Recorded our first EP ‘Running From Nobody’ in August, consisting of our singles ‘Addicted’ ‘False Promises’ and our latest single ‘Man of Steel’ – now available on all major streaming sites.
Paul Simon’s Graceland
Graceland by Paul Simon, of Simon & Garfunkel, is an album lauded for its importance in popularising world-music. Recorded partly in South Africa during the years of apartheid using local black musicians, the record attracted a large amount of controversy, but in the year of its 30th anniversary, enough time has passed that it’s now possible to appreciate it in simpler terms: as the masterclass in songwriting and story-telling that it truly is.
